The Bible includes a term called Rivers of Living Water which indicates the abundant goodness of God that comes through the power of the Holy Spirit that lives within the Believer in Jesus Christ. Two things to consider, the Living Water within you is Jesus Christ by the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit. The Rivers of Living Water is the outpouring of God’s goodness in your heart and life, and in the lives around you.

Many years ago I was known to trout fish in Great Smoky Mountains out in the streams that flowed among the rocks. They were everything from rushing waters, and waterfalls, to the calmest and clearest waters. Catching fish was a bonus; good thing I seldom did, but just to see, touch, and listen to the waters was great. It is peaceful and beautiful especially when the sunlight rested upon the surface. God made all of that, but even better are the Rivers of Living Waters He has promised us when we submit to the Living Water Jesus Christ that lives within us. This spiritual Living Water changes us from the inside out and results in His goodness being poured out of us to make a difference for good in our lives and those of others.

Jesus Christ addresses this in the Holy Bible in John 7:37-39.  37) On the last and greatest day of the festival, Jesus stood and said in a loud voice, “Let anyone who is thirsty come to Me and drink. 38) Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.”  39) By this He meant the Spirit, whom those who believed in Him were later to receive...

It is this goodness The Rivers of Living Water that defines who we truly are in Christ: It confirms the sincerity of our faith and outwardly shows others the love of God by what we do. Jesus teaches if we believe and belong to Him, there will be evidence of good things in our lives, especially to love God and others.

This goodness of God is the fruit of the Spirit and more’. The fruit of the Spirit is “love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control”.  But God’s goodness is not limited to that fruit, it includes anything that supports the greatest commandments given by God to “love Him with all your heart, mind, and soul, and to love your neighbor as thyself” and the many things He provides us as part of His greatness. Attitudes, feelings, actions, and deeds that support those commandments are infinite, some of these other things include but are not limited to, encouragement, grace, mercy, knowledge about God, compassion, helping the needy, Christian friendships, devotion, worship, prayer, attending Church services, giving of time and money for Christ and His Church, taking food to those in need, lending a helping hand, teaching, wisdom, and hundreds if not thousands of other things that God can do through His Spirit. God’s goodness is not limited by our ability to determine what constitutes goodness. Perhaps one of the Greatest things of all for the Christian is that God has planted His Spirit in us to guide us, teach us, lead us, even convict us, to be the power within us, so that God is actually working through us to bring about His will. He is with us, loves us, cares for us and wants us to bear fruit with His help. The force behind the Streams of Living Water in our heart is God.

We certainly cannot do everything nor all the good there is to do, nor does God expect us too, but we can do what we can do with the talents and gifts God has given us, “with His help He gives us”.  Even when a few good things are done in the Name of Christ, God makes Great things happen. We are saved by Grace through Faith but the works and good things we do confirm who we are in Christ and bring blessings. As Christians there will be evidence of good works for Christ. Grace is not and has never been a license to sin but it is the Gift we are given that sets us free and saves us. We must love Jesus Christ and be willing to honor and glorify Him, in fact count it a blessing to worship Him and serve Him. Don’t miss out on God pouring the blessings of Heaven upon you. He wants us to experience His Spirit and to see the great things He does in us and through us. Trust Him and Follow Him for He is able in all things. I can promise you that He will do Great things through you.

Other good references:

Matthew 5:6 “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.”

Psalm 42:1 “...As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you”

Questions we can ask ourselves:

Do people want to be like me, i.e do I exhibit Rivers of Living Waters in my life such that others like what I have?

If I don’t, am I willing to start today and do my best to submit to God’s Spirit within me so an abundance of grace, mercy, and goodness flows from my heart and soul to others?

For the fullness of God’s abundant goodness to flow from your heart and life, you need to do your best to keep sin from your life, if you are a Christian would you ask our Father in Heaven to forgive sins that may be in your life and to cleanse you from all unrighteousness?

If you are not a Christian and want to know Jesus as your Lord and Savior, would you:

Read the following:

Romans 3:23-24 “...All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,  and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.

John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”

Romans 10:9-13 “If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved..”.

Matthew 28:18 “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit...”

Accept Jesus Christ and Submit to Him by:

A Willingness to Repent of your sins and turn to Jesus Christ by Faith.

Acknowledging your Belief in Jesus Christ by: “Declaring with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead.” (Thou shalt be saved)

Then as an outward sign of your acceptance of Christ, and identification with Him, be Baptized in the Name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (Find yourself a good Church and worship God, learn about Him, and fellowship with other Believers)
